Mashrab Boboyev’s anniversary to be widely celebrated

According to the order of the Cabinet of Ministers, the 80th anniversary of the Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the famous poet and playwright Mashrab Boboyev’s birth will be widely celebrated in Samarkand.

Mashrab Boboyev was born in 1941 in Payariq district of Samarkand region. He studied at Tashkent State Theater and Art Institute. Mr. Boboyev worked as a methodologist at the Republican House of Folk Art, Director at Samarkand Regional House of Folk Art, editor at the publishing houses “Yosh Gvardiya” (now Yangi Asr Avlodi) and “Gafur Gulam”, in senior positions at Uzbekistan Writers’ Union, the Ministry of Culture, Uzbekistan National News Agency.

He is the author of more than a dozen books, including “Onamga Khat” (“Letter to my Mother”), “Bakhor Kayfiyati” (“Spring Mood”), “Gurung” (“Conversation”), “Kechki Trolleybus” (“Evening Trolleybus”), “Bagishlov” (“Dedication”), “Olisdagi Chiroq” (“Light in the Distance”), “So’z” (“Word”), “Men Bilgan Sir” (“A Secret Known to Me”), “Qani Mening Yulduzim?” (“Where is My Star?”), “Nomsiz Yulduzlar” (“Unnamed Stars”).

As a playwright, Mashrab Boboyev wrote such stage works as “Toshkentdan Kelgan Mekhmon” (“Guest from Tashkent”), “Tunis Presidenti” (“President of Tunisia”), “Bizning Khovli” (“Our Yard”), “O’z uyingdasan” (“You are at Home”), “Qani Mening Yulduzim?” (“Where is My Star?”) and others. Several films have been shot based on his works. TV series “Ko’ngil Ko’chalari” (“Streets of the Soul”) are well-known to the audience.

In 1995, Mashrab Boboyev was awarded the honorary title “Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan”. He died on 23 July 2003 in the city of Tashkent.

According to the plan of events approved by the Hokimiyat of Samarkand region, it is planned to hold a memorial evening dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the playwright’s birth in the youth park of Payariq district, a photo and book exhibition, a spiritual and enlightenment event at Samarkand State University.

A memory corner will be organized in the secondary school No.91 of Maniobod mahalla of Payariq district, where Mashrab Boboyev grew up, and one of the central streets of the district will be named after him.

The events will be held throughout the year.
